The lead partner published a handbook for young cyclists

19 May

In collaboration with the All-Russia children-youth public organization «Healthy Nation» the Directorate prepared and published a new edition of the handbook for young cyclists titled «Young Cyclist’s Guide». As of today, this handbook is one of the few in Russia covering a wide range of topics related to cycling and cycling safety aimed at pupils.

The handbook has been published within the CBC project «Cycling» implementation and will be used by the lead partner when holding project events on cycling safety such as seminars.

On the 14th of May, participants of the cycling conference «Velo 47» in Volkhov, Leningrad Region, got a chance to be the first ones to hold the new book in their hands but already on the 20th of May around 300 handbooks will be handed in to pupils of the Svetogorsk Comprehensive School.

«Young Cyclist’s Guide» is targeted primarily at pupils but people at any age should know all the important information and rules that can be found in it. The handbook teaches the reader everything he or she needs to know to ride a bike safely, confidently and conveniently: the basics of riding a bike and choosing cycling gear, bike check before a trip, traffic rules, medical help in case of falling and much more

The texts are written in simple language and accompanied with colorful illustrations. When one is finished reading, he or she can take a test to test their knowledge.

Educating people about the main principles of safe cycling from the young age is essential to decreasing the number of accidents involving cyclists. Project «Cycling» team is proud of having an opportunity to contribute to achievement of such an important goal and wishes everyone safe cycling trips.
